NRCS BS-16 Lake Lery Vegetative Planting Project
In the fall of 2016, Stream Wetland Services (SWS) contracted with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to grow and install 23,910 trade gallon containers of California bulrush (Schoenoplectus californicus). The project was performed in 3 phases and was completed in 2017. SWS utilized its nursery facility to produce the wetland vegetation for this project. The project is located near Chalmette, LA just east of the Mississippi River. The project site consisted of roughly 7 miles of new levee that was constructed along the western and southern shoreline of Lake Lery. SWS used a crew of 16 men and four boats to install the vegetation as per the project specifications.
