NRCS LA-39 South Lake Decade Vegetative Planting
Stream Wetland Services (SWS) contracted with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to grow and install 33,300 bare rot plugs and trade gallon containers of Spartina alterniflora and 5,740 trade gallon containers of Schoenoplectus californicus. SWS utilized its nursery facility for the plant production phase of this project. The project is located in Theriot, LA on the west side of Lake Decade. The site consisted of submerged planting platforms with extremely soft substrates that made it difficult to traverse. SWS used a crew of 15 men along with four boats to transport and install the vegetation as per the project specifications. The project was completed on schedule and within 12 days.
