The Lower Neches Marsh Creation
The Lower Neches Marsh Creation Project transformed over 70 acres of open water to emergent wetlands. The project incorporated several different construction techniques utilizing both marsh machines and dredging equipment. Stream Wetland Services (SWS) provided consulting services for Conceptual Planning during the 7 year design phase of the project. The plan included establishing vegetative elevation benchmarks, construction grades and elevation, vegetative species composition, and a detailed vegetative planting plan. Our expertise in wetland construction was also utilized during the construction process to ensure the project goals and objectives were being met from a wetland standpoint. SWS also provided and installed over 225,000 nursery grown wetland plants during throughout the construction process.
