Johnsons Bayou Terracing Project
The Johnsons Bayou Terracing Project was performed in 2011 as a mitigation project to offset the impacts associated with permitted activities. SWS provided a turnkey service that included permitting assistance, project design, construction, vegetation, and monitoring services. A total of 11,014 linear feet of terraces were constructed resulting in 5.8 acres of emergent marsh. SWS utilized is certified nursery in Lake Charles, LA for the production of the vegetative transplants required for the project. After two years of growth, the terraces have exceeded monitoring requirements and have provided synergistic benefits to the surrounding wetlands.
