NRCS LA-39 Cameron Creole Vegetative Planting Project
In the spring of 2013, the Natural Resources Conservation Service awarded Stream Wetland Services (SWS) a contract to supply and install 49,340 trade gallon containers of Spartina alterniflora. The project is located in Cameron, LA south of Calcasieu Lake. The project site consisted of shallow open water flats that were a direct result from the impacts associated with Hurricane Rita and Ike. SWS utilized four air boats and a crew of 18 men to deliver and install the plants to this remote location. The project was extremely successful and was completed on time. It took the SWS team only 12 days to install the 49,340 plants.
