Keith Lake Marsh Creation and Vegetative Planting Project
The Keith Lake Marsh Creation and Vegetative Planting Project created and nourished over 1,200 acres of coastal wetlands located near Sabine Pass, TX. Stream Wetland Services (SWS) worked with local industry to strategically place over 1.9 million cubic yards of dredged sediment. The sediments were mobilized from local industrial terminals during routine maintenance dredging activities. The marsh creation and nourishment sites are located on Texas Parks and Wildlife land located approximately 3-5 miles from the dredge location. SWS provided consulting and monitoring services during construction. Post construction, SWS was responsible for removing and degrading the temporary containment levees and utilized its wetland plant nursery to produce over 480,000 containerized wetland plants. Once the marsh creation site was consolidated and ready for vegetation, SWS successfully installed the wetland plants throughout the site.
